Arrived in Paris in 1932, after having studied at the Fine-Arts school of Warsaw,  the painter David Garfinkiel rejoins his predecessors of the « École de Paris » (Paris School) : Soutine, Krémègne, Kikoïne… In contact with these artists, and also with the great classical paintings of the Parisian museums, then impressed by the storm of World War II, Garfinkiel’s painting evolves.

Dead in 1970, he left a great collection of paintings, aquarelles and drawings, dispatched in Europe, United States and Israel according to the exhibitions that showed his work.
