His beginnings in France had been marked by prismatic cubism influence. He rapidly found his way towards his own style, an expressionism with dense strokes, with vibrating colors, where, on a dark tonality background, bloody reds, nostalgic violets, sulphurous yellows, and deep blues burst out. Loving life in all its manifestations,(…) he knew how to paint its most diversified aspects, haggard houses from old districts, fantastic outlines of workers in the building processing, daily stillness of domesticity, but also circus and musicians animation, inebriation by pretty feminine nudes. He has been equally able to see with a new eye the thick-set density of our French villages, the many-coloured symphony of Provence in a very original, quivering and whirling style, the luminous glory of Israel’s landscapes. Finally, the people he belonged to inspired him unforgettable compositions evoking passionate musicians or prophets-like old men leaning on the holy scriptures with devouring eagerness.And when he undertook, after the war, to resuscitate, by great compositions, the unutterable scenes of frightening exodus and massacre in ghetto, he reached heart-rending sensibility, convulsive horror accents, that rejoin the art of the great masters.
